Call for music!

My cousin Sonja found herself suddenly in the hospital this weekend, awaiting surgery. As of this morning, she's reportedly in good spirits and bored out of her mind. Since I can't just run down to DC on short notice this weekend to entertain her, I'm making a peppy music mix to send in my stead.

This is where y'all come in, 'cause my music library has never looked so angsty and depressing (and inappropriate -- Ben Folds, why do you say so many bad words?).

I'm looking for happy, silly, bouncy and otherwise cheerful songs to include on this mix -- appropriate for a 10-year-old who likes the Beatles, They Might Be Giants, and was raised on her dad's the Clash, Radiohead, and Belle & Sebastian albums. Actually, anything that sounds like the above bands would be welcome, bounciness optional, since quieter moments are nice, too.

Flogging Molly! Oasis! Beck! Old school R&B or gospel, like Mahalia Jackson. The Velvet Goldmine soundtrack. Bobby Darin. The Postal Service? Frou Frou/Imogen Heap? Calexico. The Cat Empire. Anything Baz Luhrman did the soundtrack to. Iggy Pop. Save Ferris. Squirrel Nut Zipper. Anything from DJ Earworm.

Er, that's a long list. Should I send you any of those?

Thank you! Excellent ideas, all. Could you send Flogging Molly, Oasis (anything besides the single "Wonderwall," which I think I have), Iggy Pop, and Save Ferris? One or two favorite tracks would be ideal.

(We're aiming for a 2-disc set, now. I got a ton of great recs from les amis on Facebook, too!)
