computer woes
Mar. 25th, 2005 03:23 pmThere is little that is more depressing than the failure of my computer to function properly these days. I've been without a word processor since LITS "saved" the machine in January and reinstalled Windows. My efforts to remedy that have not gone well.

God bless LITS
Feb. 7th, 2005 04:22 pmThanks to the beautimous folk at MHC LITS, my beloved computer is back on its feet, and (almost) better than ever. One minor problem remains: a tendency for the ethernet card to stop processing info in the middle of online activity -- despite still showing a valid IP address and the appropriate "system working" lights. *shrugs* It's a mystery; hopefully, it's one I'll be able to fix without buying a new card.
Oh, and also, it no longer has Microsoft Word on it. So if anybody has a Windows 98-compatible edition of Word (the version I had was Word 2000), and wants to rip me a copy...
Just kidding, LITS! I swear I'm not asking for a sketchy, illegal version of any software.
*cough*

So. Because we're too poor, and ostensibly too busy to really leave campus this weekend, banannagoats and I stayed in and had a movie night. I had to watch State Fair for the Musical Film, and grabbed Strictly Ballroom while I was over at the library, just 'cause.
( State Fair )
( Strictly Ballroom )
In other news, my computer's down again. Possibly a network card failure; possibly a virus. I get to figure it out this afternoon, before the Oscars. (Academy Awards! Pretty gowns! Hobbitses in tuxes! Wheeeee!)

yeah mondays.
Feb. 9th, 2004 11:17 pmLong, long day. Woke up for my 8:35 at 8:40--hello, Monday. Came back to find that my computer didn't want to start. Lovely. LITS said I need a new hard drive. Brilliant.
So basically, I brooded about my computer all day. It's not actually a huge deal, since I'd been planning on reinstalling Windows for a couple of weeks already. I'm just sad that it went all at once, and that the OS apparently wasn't the root problem. Plus, who wants to spend money on crap like a hard drive? Not I.
In happier news, I went to the Odyssey with banannagoats. Bookstores never fail to cheer me up. I must remember this.
Rehearsal went well; we finished choreographing the first number and helped the new guys catch up. Everyon was pretty pumped about having a real, live Aloysius and Phil. And the choral parts sound awesome. "Amsterdam" is a beautiful, beautiful song. Speaking of which, need to go write up the rehearsal report...and sleep, so that I can make it to yoga.
