other phone: [rings, gets put on hold]
e: Which Jen are you looking for? She may not be in today.
s.g.: --I mean, is Bennett W____ there?
e: ...we have several Jens. What's the last name?
s.g.: W_____. Bennett.
e: I'm sorry, he's not in. May I take a message?
s.g.: Well, when will he come in?
e: Probably not until next weekend.
s.g.: [panicky] But where is he? He's always there on Saturdays.
e: He's not going to be in today. Probably won't be again until next weekend.
s.g.: [highly concerned] Wait, is he okay?
e: Yes, he's fine. He's just got another job.
s.g.: How long has he had this job? I thought the theater was his bread and butter...
e: Not lately, nope--
s.g.: Where is he working now?
e: [eyes other phone, still on hold] Honestly, I'm not sure.
s.g.: *continues blathering*
e: [cutting him off] Sir, I'm afraid I've got several other customers waiting, so I'm going to have to let you go, unless [...you get to the point, soon, she adds silently]
s.g.: kthnxbye. *hangs up*
