Happy convocation day, MoHos and Smithies!

The convocation I remember from my first year was an absolutely crazy, debauched madhouse of an event. Today, I'm a little sad to admit, was significantly calmer. There was the requisite ridiculous screaming, and the even-more-ridiculous outfits, but overall we were much better behaved than the class of 2003 ("our" seniors).

This is largely due to the fact that, after the antics of '03, the administration moved Convocation from roughly 3:30 pm to 11:30 am. There's just not that much time to get rip-roaring drunk in the morning; mimosas only go so far, y'know. Another standout memory from '03 was the senior who wore yellow pasties and yellow pants under her gown -- it's thanks to her that we're required to keep our gowns zipped while marching into the amphitheater.

Our seniors were downright scary; I like to think that we were more spirited than intimidating. And we were mostly clothed, too -- there was only one person in hotpants/underwear that made us all go "um..." (and some go *drool*). There were others in "super senior" Superman capes, and wearing leis passed out by the class board. Our whole house went classy with the clothing, and borrowed red items from kloss. Biz looked especially fabulous in a hot burgundy dress and bright red wellies. I borrowed a skirt (red with gold dots), paired it with a matching red t-shirt and my flip-flops; the final touch was my red springy-hearts headband from Dis-Orientation first year. banannagoats also added to the fun by kissing everyone she met -- leaving bright red lipstick prints on Kevin the Party Cop, my student programs boss, our ResLife AD, and many, many others.

Tonight, we'll get all decked out again for the first big party of the year in Blanchard. This weekend will be wicked fun, too -- it's [livejournal.com profile] krikkit911's 21st birthday! And our house-warming party! And a big birthday dinner with her family! Yaaaaayyyyyy!

I am so, so excited about this year. I cannot even tell you. Remind me of this in a few weeks, yeah? I'm afraid it'll wear off fast.
