The New World is a bloody gorgeous movie. I have a strange urge to go frolic in the woods with a scruffy, handsome man.

Huh.

Is it really? I was wondering about that film. I've heard such mixed stuff. I do love me some Christian Bale though. And I saw the girl on Ellen, she was impressive. If only I had a way of getting to a movie theater around here!

It is, really. It's also a good movie, really...it almost managed to shut up the little voice in my head that kept chanting *historically innacurate historically innacurate* through all of the relationship scenes.

I'm not really bothered by historical innaccuracy...well, unless I'm really passionate about the subject...or I don't realize it's inaccurate and then go blabbing only to learn I know nothing. But this story has never been told correctly! And really, can it be farther off than the Disney version?

(sorry I took so long to reply!)

It's still not further off than the Disney production, no -- I mean, Terrence Malick seems like he'd be a talking-animals kind of director, right? :)

Honestly, I have to say my recommendation is even stronger two weeks later. It's definitely one of the most beautiful movies to come out this year, and I just keep thinking about it. And I want to see it again.

(No worries! Any time I hear from you, it's a good day. :) )
