Jan. 10th, 2007 07:00 pmI am in SUCH a good mood right now. Although it hasn't been easy -- getting to the office by 8 am sucks, let me tell you -- this week has actually been very good so far. I'm learning people's names, or at least starting to recognize their faces. I've had several nice conversations with folk, including the IT guy, the new saleswoman, and everyone who interviewed for contract positions today. The office is more casual than I expected; the doorman is pleasant; and I've settled into a habit of taking lunch with Jonathan Strange & Mr Norrell at the Starbucks on the corner. (That way, I get the caffeine fix necessary for making it through the afternoon, and I get to leave my desk. The ripping good novel is an added bonus.)
As if that weren't enough, there was a voicemail on my phone when I left work. A voicemail from MajorPublishing Company, regarding an application that I submitted last week. (One of the many that I frantically threw out right after getting back to town.) I called back, figuring I'd leave a message, but actually managed to reach a person. Yay! We chatted, I answered questions about why I want to work for them and why I would kick ass, and she wants me to come in for an interview next week. It'll require a little wrangling with the current job, and some even-speedier-than-usual speed-walking to get there, but hopefully I'll be going in on Tuesday. We'll confirm tomorrow.
*dances*
And now I'm off to Kloss's for dinner, Pride and Prejudice, and knitting.
