According to the NY Times, there's a very good chance I may not get to vote.

And, based on their handy-dandy interactive map, Ohio is no longer considered a swing state: it's definitely "leaning towards" Bush. Dammit.

Bah, I can't see it! I suppose you're supposed to have a subscription to see it. I hope I get to vote...went through way too much hassle in order to make sure I could. I don't want the plant to keep running our country. Grrr.

Basically, the Times had an article about how several states (unnamed) didn't get their absentee ballots sent out on time, therefore making it difficult for overseas voters to return them in a timely fashion.

There will be online voting available, but only for military stationed overseas. Gee...wonder which way /that/ vote'll swing.

Out of curiosity, does knowing that Ohio is no longer a swing state make you want to vote more, or less?

Makes me want to vote more, most definitely.

Hence the "Dammit," reflecting my frustration at possibly being unable to do so. :)

Glad to hear that. Americans need to vote more.

I think the Times may have been defining 'swing state' as 'totally up in the air'. Or something.

And /of course/ I requested my ballot. It's just that it's not here yet...and my friend from Florida filled his out last week...I'm just nervous it's not going to actually happen, considering how late it's come to MHC some years.

I'm definitely harping on the housemates. Everyone's registered and awaiting absentee ballots--save one, who doesn't care to choose either Kerry or Bush, and feels that since he's from MA, it doesn't matter anyway.

State breakdown of the house: 2 NY, 2 MA (including the non-voter), PA, TN, VA, CT, and me (OH). Bonus knowledge. :)
