Obligatory Valentine's Day update

Having issues getting interested in homework, even though I know that I have a paper due Friday, and I'm totally not prepared to start writing it. I still have to do reading on-line, and I'm having major issues re-downloading Acrobat. Grrr.

Valentine's Day -- not too bad. In addition to Mom's cookie platter, I have two packages waiting for me in mail services -- presumably the annual Aunt Michelle Box o' Valentine's Goodies. It's nice to remember how awesome my family really is, for all they're kind of crazy and weird most of the year.

It's easy for me to get bogged down in the couple-ness of the holiday, but after lunch, my mood improved. My favorite part of Valentine's (chocolate aside) is just hearing from and getting in touch with friends that I haven't talked to in awhile. My friends are my support system, no question, even more than my family. I'm happy to take a day that can kind of suck for us Singletons, and make it somewhat better by just reminding everyone how much I love them.

*cough* Surprisingly, no alcohol was consumed during production of this post. :)

(And although it was sad to read, I couldn't help laughing when I pictured you and Dorothee "blubbering" in the middle of O'Neill's on V-Day, and BR having no idea how to make it better. You poor kids. All of you. :) )

Perhaps you should celebrate single's awareness day (S.A.D.) instead.

IMO, Singles Awareness Day usually turns into Anti-Couples Day -- not that there's anything wrong with that, but I'd rather keep it positive, which I think is truer to the spirit of the holiday, anyway.

Valentine's Day is about love, right? So I make sure ALL the kick-ass people in my life know how much I love them, instead of focusing my love (and gifts, etc.) on a Significant Other.
