Places I Have Slept This Week, and My Thoughts on Each
(reverse chronology)
  • My bed, 6th floor Ham: Mmmm...right next to the computer. With purple sheets and an Empire Strikes Back pillowcase. Daytime: F-. Night: A++.
  • Armchair, Smith College Library: With an ottoman to put my feet up, I curled into a little ball this morning while reading for my final Fakelore class. A little cramped, and probably contributed to my inability to stay awake in film. C.
  • Office Chair, Amherst College Library: I was supposed to be watching a movie at the time. Apparently, the chairs were a lot better if you took two and made them into a bed. D.
  • [livejournal.com profile] banannagoats's bed, 5th floor Ham: Snuggly, especially w/ bonus Goats in it. *oh my!* :) Conveniently located alarm clock -- with a conveniently located snooze button. B+.
  • Couch, Smith College Library: Napping is much better when done between classes, rather than immediately before. Also, could stretch out. B-.
  • [livejournal.com profile] auntyem's bed, 2nd floor Wilder: The hostel on the green. Pro: right in the middle of campus; door always open. Con: No telling who else has been there. *sassy eyebrow* B.

Today was my last day of class at Smith. No more 6-hour time commitments for Tuesday night screenings, no more afternoons spent frantically reading fairy tales or folklore criticism, and no more mornings with Hat Boy or the Pirate. *tear* Happily (?), I do have to take one more 40-minute bus ride to turn in my "Puss in Boots" paper on Tuesday afternoon. Joy. (I'll give you a call from the bus stop, [livejournal.com profile] llogan, just for old times' sake. ;) )

Seriously, I'll miss taking classes off-campus. It was something different, and I'm glad I did it. Folklore kicked (and is still kicking) my ass -- but it's the first class in a long time to really do so, and I appreciate it a lot. I'm expecting a B/B-, but dammit, I earned that, and I'm glad that one professor, at least, doesn't seem to inflate my grades. On more than one occasion, I've gotten a paper back and wanted to march into the prof's office, so that I can just shake her and say, "Can't you tell I stayed up all night to write this? (And that I fell asleep halfway?) Don't you see the disorganized mess here? How is this an "A" paper?!" That...will not be an issue with this class, and for that alone, I'm grateful.

i took a class off campus last semester and miss the bi-weekly commute. there was something almost soothing about the relocation.

PS. Can you bring Travesties to Abby's thesis performance Saturday night? I keep forgetting to stop by.

i think youre the only person in the world who complains about having grades that are to high on papers you wrote in the wee hours of the morning. you should be thinking of it as a credit to your brilliance under pressure. when i do papers with an encroaching deadline, my work either falls to crap (read the hamlet paper) or is sheer brilliance (read the social norm violation). you should be proud of your gift. (if you remember how dimonds are made)

yeah- add generic complement.

i do so love your busstop calls.

Aw. Thanks, friend. : )

And I know it's a totally obnoxious thing to complain about. But I think it's true, at MHC and for sure at ASE last semester.

I think you would have given the amherst office chairs a C- if you had gotten the two and made them into a bed...I appreciated it for like 20 minutes. :)

Have I mentioned how grateful I am that you were there to yell at me, and write messages on the board? SO GRATEFUL. I never would have made it, otherwise.
