Need to go to bed...but first:

I love MHC. (Bear in mind that I love everyone/thing right now, because I've imbibed a good deal of apple martini, lakeside.)

Laurel Parade this morning was loverly, with everyone dressed up in their pretty white skirts (one senior had a white kilt, white tam, white kneesocks -- the whole deal -- in tribute to her apparent Scottish heritage). "Bread and Roses" sounded quite pretty; the loyalty classes loyally cheered for the seniors (just four women from the classes of '30 and '35, plus a bunch of '45ers); Goats, auntyem, Mel and I shared a moment during the song...it was v. nice.

Class of '55 tonight (it's their 50th reunion, and they're terribly excited) was loads of fun. After dinner, they all gathered in the Abbey living room and sang songs around the piano -- husbands, too. It was utterly adorable. They ended with "God Bless America," which again, adorable. And they were so appreciative and grateful for the students' help (even though we didn't do that much, save for moving tables around the dining hall to recreate the floor plan from memory.

After work, came back to the room, changed into blue free-bin sweater, re-mixed drinks, and hauled off to watch the Canoe Sing on the lake. (Seniors sing on shore of lake while others paddle lantern-lit canoes around -- pretty.) We took care of a lot of our leftover alcohol, finished off Maura's tortilla chips (courtesy of the dance dept.), and tottered around. Squished Biz's nose. Had a Wizard of Oz skipping moment which made me way too happy. Squished other noses. Dance party in Blanchard was short but fun -- especially enjoyed the sight of alums ('03) posing for photos with Kevin the Party Cop outside the building. While drinking. Heh.

In conclusion: reunion = good times. Hoping it stays sunny for commencement tomorrow! (This entry? Not going to make so much sense tomorrow. Sorry, team.)

Hee, I wonder what the Scots I know here in Glasgow would think of that.

It doesn't make much sense, if you think about it -- was there a white-on-white tartan pattern? Or no plaid at all? A non-plaid kilt is kind of sad, really.

Does Smith have a laurel parade?
