As predicted when I "lost" it six? seven? years ago...I just found my beloved copy of D'Aulaires' Norse Gods and Giants (recently republished as Norse Myths).

Mom always said we'd find it again when we moved. :)

Seriously, this is the best book EVER. Anybody who owned the Greek Myths knows how cool Ingri and Edgar d'Aulaires' illustrations are, and the Scandanavian mythology is awesome on its own. When I read American Gods this summer, the Norse myths I'd practically memorized as a kid all came back to me, and I pegged whatshisname as Odin almost from his first appearance. Last week when I finally read 1602, I was excited about Thor for all the wrong reasons. (I still don't know where he fits into the Marvel canon...Justice League?)

Anyway, I'm rambling in order to procrastinate further. I'm going back to packing: now I'm on a mission to find my Beauty and the Beast dolls.

never heard of the book. where did you lose it? and where did you find it?

I lost it in a box, apparently...although I knew that I'd used it for a French presentation in high school, so it was very confusing when I couldn't find it for several years.

I found it in the bottom box in a stack of six, in the very back of my closet -- I moved across the hall to our former spare room in 10th grade, and it got filed away with the crazy Littlest Pet Shop (http://furbyrocks.tripod.com/LPS.htm) toys. So...yeah. I'm glad to have it back, though. It was out of print for a long time.

Oh I love Greak Myths! So random. Perhaps I should find this book of yours. It looks fun! And reminds me vaguely of England and the Myths & Legends class.

It rocks. And it prepared me for my Thanksgiving trip to Norway: I was able to identify all kinds of things in the Oslo Art Museum because I knew all the major myths...and it was really fun, in a scary sort of way, to play mythology tour guide. :)

Oh man, that's so awesome. I've always wanted to go to Norway. I'm not really sure why...I think it had something to do with me visiting the Norway pavillion in Disneyworld when I was little. But mythology in general rocks my socks!
